Are You Eligible for Learner Driver Insurance?

To keep the number of questions that we ask to a minimum, we make certain assumptions as detailed below and these must describe your circumstances correctly. These will form the basis of your insurance contract and may be invalid if you do not meet the eligibility criteria stated.

We assume that you:

  • are aged between 17 and 30, and that you hold a valid UK provisional driving licence
  • have been a permanent resident in the UK for the past 12 months
  • have had no motor accidents, claims or losses in the past 3 years
  • have never had an insurance policy cancelled, made void or refused; or had an insurance claim repudiated or declined
  • have had no penalty points on your driving licence, and have no police enquiry pending
  • have not been disqualified from driving or had your licence revoked in the past 5 years
  • have never been convicted of any criminal offence or have any possible prosecution pending
  • are not Unemployed; or have a full or part-time occupation which is connected to the following trades or professions:
    Entertainment Industry
    Professional Sports-person

The car:

  • has no more than 7 seats, has a current MOT certificate if required, and is not recorded as an insurance category A or B write-off
  • is no greater than £25000 in value, and will only be used for social domestic & pleasure purposes by you in person
  • is not owned, operated by, hired or rented from any Claims/ Credit Hire/ Accident Management or Vehicle Rental firm
  • will be covered under a separate insurance policy by the car owner and will remain in force for the duration of the insurance contract
  • has not been modified or altered in any way (including wheels, suspension, bodywork and engine). Vehicles converted to LPG or modified to cater for a disabled driver or a disabled passenger are acceptable.

You understand that:

  • you must be accompanied at all times by a qualified driver aged over 25 and has held a full UK Driving Licence for a minimum of 3 years or is a current qualified Driving Standards Agency Examiner or current registered qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
  • The accompanying driver must be a UK resident for a minimum of 2 years and must not have a DR coded motoring conviction (for Drink or Drugs offences) endorsed on their driving licence within the last 5 years
  • your driving licence and address information that you provide will be subject to a validation process and can be used to verify your entitlement to purchase insurance
  • all cover under this policy ceases as soon as you pass your Driving Test
